Is Your Life The Light Of Men

John 1:4: In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

1 John 5:11: And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

If Jesus has given you eternal life and He is living in you, your life should be the light of men. Has Jesus made you different? Does your life bother unbelievers? Do they criticize it? Does it please believers? Do they encourage it?

Matthew 5:14: Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Ephesians 5:8: For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

1 Thessalonians 5:5: Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

1 Peter 2:9: But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

Four things were true of me before I received Jesus. It was impossible for me to be the light of men. I did not have eternal life in me. I was not the light of men. I did not care that I was not the light of men. Soon after I received Jesus I wondered why other Christians were like a brilliant street light on a pole and I was only like a little flickering candle. I am encouraged that the Bible speaks of our light as a candle. I am encouraged when I remember something I learned when I was in the service. I learned that even one lighted match can be seen miles away on a dark night. We were forbidden even to light a match. We are living in a dark world.

Ephesians 6:12: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

John 3:19: And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

Before I received Jesus, I was total darkness and I was in total darkness. I am thankful that I am now the light of men, even though just a little candle, and that light can be seen by everyone the Lord reveals it to. I am thankful that Satan has not been able to extinguish my little candle for several decades now and I know that he will never be able to do that.
